Romani and Travellers Social Work Association’s New Website

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new website for The Romani and Traveller Social Work Association! Established in June 2020 by three Romani social workers, our association was born out of a deep need for a safe, peer-led space where social workers from Romani Gypsy, Irish Traveller, Roma, and Showman communities could connect and share their unique experiences.

Our work is not just about the present; it’s about honoring the journey of our ancestors. We carry with us their stories, their struggles, and the impact of state intervention on our family lives. It is this legacy that drives our commitment to supporting social workers from our communities and to advocating for culturally informed practices within the wider social work profession.

Our new website is a hub of resources designed to empower and support social workers who identify with Romani and Traveller communities. Visitors will find a wealth of information, including our Good Practice Guidance—a vital resource for those working with Romani and Traveller families. This guidance reflects our collective wisdom and experiences, offering practical advice and insights to ensure culturally sensitive and effective social work practice.

We invite you to explore the site, access these valuable resources, and join us in our mission to uplift and support Romani and Traveller social workers across the UK. Together, we can create a more inclusive, understanding, and equitable social work profession.

If you are a Romani or Traveller social worker or student we’d love you to join us!

Visit our website today and become part of a growing community that honours the past, supports the present, and builds a better future for all.
